San Francisco Saturday

Kolina and I were in San Francisco on Saturday to tackle the 100 Things to Eat in SF list. Kolina has thoroughly documented the adventure on her own blog and I already wrote yelp reviews on all the places we checked out, I guess all that’s left to do is just write a few thoughts .

We tackled 7 of the 100 places we were supposed to go to:

#28: A Gibraltar at Blue Bottle Café
#21: Pizza margherita at Pizzeria Delfina
#49: Ginger snaps at Miette
#35: Salted-caramel ice cream at Bi-Rite Creamery
#40: Cheeseburger at Taylor’s Automatic Refresher
#91: Albondigas soup at Mijita
#12: Porchetta sandwich at Roli Roti at the Saturday Ferry Plaza Farmers Market

Not too shabby, although we had ambitions to go to two more places but go too full too fast. My favorite by-and-far was the porchetta sandwich at Roli Roti:

From 100 Things to Eat in SF

Since we ate so much food, we spent time walking around the Ferry Building and eventually made our way to the Metreon. Avatar in Imax 3D was sold out, which was a bummer, but we went next door to the SF MOMA, which was celebrating it’s 75th Anniversary = free admission! I’ve been to the SF MOMA several times, but it has never been this crowded and the exhibits were all made to celebrate the 75th anniversary. There’s also a new rooftop garden with some modern art – when we were heading outside a poor fellow knocked over this iron basket shaped piece, which rolled off of the bolts that kept it to the ground. That’s the first time I’ve seen an accident like that and it didn’t look like he was going to be charged – I think the installation was heavy duty enough that if it fell it wasn’t going to be affected.

Spending the day indulging in different cuisines was a blast, with a free trip to the SF MOMA to break things up. The plan is to take advantage of Dine About Town next weekend and go to aziza (and complete #63 meatballs with grapes) and check out a few more restaurants. Hopefully >10% completion by end of month!
