Weekend in Cambridge

I spent the past weekend in Cambridge. My Dad was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, an organization founded in 1780 by John Adams, John Hancock and James Bowdoin. Besides being extremely proud of my father, it was pretty cool to see some leading intellectuals packed together in one room. I’ll let the pictures tell the story of this weekend – other highlights include walking the Freedom Trail and dining at Rialto.

My Dad’s letter wasn’t displayed =(

Apologies for the blurry photo, but with dark lighting, this was the best photo I got of Emmy Lou Harris and James Earl Jones doing a reading:

All in all, a great weekend. The redeye flight to Boston on Friday did wear me out, and I had trouble staying awake in the afternoon. And I got back on Sunday near midnight, so there was little time to actually make this weekend more relaxing like I prefer. But, it was worth it – Boston’s a great city, but I can’t say it’s for me. Induction ceremonies are also fun, but it made me realize just how little I’ve done and have second thoughts for not going into academia. I’ve been out of undergrad for almost 3 years though – there’s still time!

Wait, so you were in Boston this weekend? That explains why the Red Sox lost! Dammit Reid!

But seriously, congrats to your dad. That’s a pretty big honor.
