MLB All-Star Weekend
This weekend (and part of the weekday) was spent in St. Louis, attending the All-Star game festivities. You might not realize from looking at me, but I actually used to play baseball, and I was quite good. My claim to fame was playing for the varsity squad of my high school Sophomore year, and having a perfect 1000 batting average…1 at bat, 2 rbi single. When you go out, you gotta go out on top.
Anyway, my parents are baseball fans so we spent the weekend at the various festivities:

with an amazing amount of memorabilia. Other priceless possessions included autographed Babe Ruth baseballs, Ted Williams photos, Satchel Paige uniforms, and much much more.

The next day there was the All-Star parade, where all the stars were driven down in Chevy trucks to the stadium (guess who sponsored the parade?). Ichiro!!!

President Obama threw out the first pitch (snipers protected him from the roof of the stadium):

The game itself had some good action, but again, the National League lost (13 years in a row now…). The rest of my pictures are here.
Since I’m quickly pushing out this post, the final note about the weekend was that I got to take advantage of United Airlines incompetence and received a free airline voucher for taking a bump on my flight out to Denver. The flight was oversold, so I volunteered to get a bump since I had a horrid STL -> DEN -> SNA -> SJC route. Instead, I got a bump, left a few hours later, and flew United Economy Plus STL -> DEN -> SJC and got in at the same time. Where to next?
I would love to check out Busch Stadium sometime. I hear it’s beautiful. Plus, it’s named after a super classy beer.
Also, hooray AL domination!
