May Showers
The phrase “April showers bring May flowers” was a full reversal this past weekend, as the first weekend of May not only brought in a few co-workers birthdays, but a whole bunch of rain. Nonetheless, it was a great weekend.
A group of 24 of us headed up to Sacramento for some whitewater rafting. Unfortunately, the constant rain not only meant we had to sleep in some crammed tents underneath some shelter while it rained the whole night, but that we couldn’t raft on the North Fork, which had risen to a ridiculous and unsafe height. Since Kolina already wrote about the trip, I’ll just add that the South Fork did not disappoint, which enough rapids to keep us entertained and plenty of cold weather to make it an adventure.
And, having a huge dinner at Cattlemen’s (10oz sirloin steak, bread, baked beans, and salad) made for a great end to Saturday.
Sunday was the first time in a while I had to decompress, after a full week of work and plenty of stuff to catch on at home. Did my laundry. Cleaned the bathroom. Did some online shopping. Booked a ticket home to St. Louis July 11-15th for the MLB All-Star Game! And got a Mother’s Day gift. Don’t forget – it’s next Sunday!
Also did some cooking – Kolina and I made chicken curry. I was responsible for the shrimp, which were covered in panko flakes and deep fried. And I’m not gonna lie – it was really good!
