Travis

If you haven’t heard of Travis, you should keep reading. It’s the second time I’ve seen them perform live (the first time was at the Fillmore) and they blew me away, having never even heard their music before that concert. So, when Charlene mentioned that they would be in town and was ordering tickets, I jumped on the opportunity. Two days ago, Mark, Charlene, and I took the work shuttle to Berkeley and met up with Ryan. We walked to Top Dog for a cheap and quick dinner and then got some boba at the Asian Ghetto.

Aside: Why do Berkeley people call it the Asian Ghetto? One of the largest restaurants is Italian.

Anyway, the concert was at Zellerbach auditorium in Berkeley and we were really close. 14 rows back, I think:

Behind the drummer is a giant gong. It was only used for one song, but it was so worth it. For those not familiar with their music, this is probably their most famous song, “Why Does it Always Rain on me?”

At the end of the concert, the lead singer, Franis, mentioned they won’t be back be in the States for a few years. Everyone in the audience groaned. “But, you can see other bands,” Francis said. “We won’t be jealous. Just don’t see Coldplay.”

Guess what group I’m seeing in two months?
