Tour de Cure 2009
Last year I participated in the Tour de Cure, a bike ride that benefits the American Diabetes Association and their efforts to find a cure for diabetes. This is a nationwide event and I participated in the Palo Alto version, where cyclists are sponsored to complete a 25k, 50k, 75k, or 120k ride. I took a stab at the 75k ride and completed several training rides that I documented on my blog in the past.
And when it came time for the actual ride, I was able to do it! Woohoo!
Well, this year I signed up for the 120k ride. That translates into 78 miles in a route that goes over the mountains and out to the ocean and back.
I’ve never even ridden to the ocean before, so this is really going to be a challenge for me. But, I really like that I’m pushing myself to benefit a great cause I strongly support. Last year, I had a great group of friends, co-workers, and family who supported me from start to finish. I’m currently accepting donations on my Tour de Cure page. Please help in showing your support! And I’ll keep you posted on my training rides here. And if you really want, I’ll take a picture of myself, in my Tour de Cure bike jersey and spandex pants to help you visualize me cycling!
holy moly that is crazy! be careful of your knee this year :)
