St. Patrick’s Day definitely overshadows my birthday (I’m born March 18th…St. Patrick’s Day is the 17th), but that’s okay, since I’m not big on celebrations anyway. For me, it’s another year, but I wouldn’t lie when I say that hearing Happy Birthday and getting gifts isn’t bad. Who doesn’t like gifts?
I participated with my first ever organized run on Tuesday. It was a 3.5 mile fun-run around our main Google buildings to benefit the Google Aids/Livecycle team that’s biking from SF to LA in a few months. It wasn’t very competitive, but there were some fast runners – the guy who came in first blazed in at 18:13, while yours truly chugged in at 27:27 in 56th place. Not bad, I guess, since I didn’t kill myself running and there were 127 participants.
Later on, we had some celebratory green beer and played Rock Band:

Ate at 99 Chicken for my birthday dinner. The guy took our picture so we’ll be forever remembered on their wall! Had some drinks at VIP to finish off the night.

By the way, I was recently shown this video and I think it’s amazing.
I think sometimes birthdays are a good time to reflect on the past and think about what you’d like to accomplish by the time you’re XX year’s old. Maybe I’ll do that for a future blog post.

Ha! Great old-school internet meme. I love when they break it down a bit, and even though he doesn’t get the girl, he realizes he has true friends.
