Las Vegas Last Weekend

Went to Las Vegas this past weekend. It was a pretty packed trip, as we flew out Saturday morning and were out late every night, finally rolling into work at 10:30AM on Monday. The past few days have been tiring, for sure – lots of things going on at work without nearly enough time to catch up on sleep. Anyway, some highlights:

Love

This would be the fourth Cirque du Soleil shows I’ve seen, and like Wysz mentioned, there’s a lot more dancing and movement, and less acrobatics than their other shows. I do disagree with his assumption that the show appeals “to the girls a little more.” This is mainly because I really enjoyed the show – it’s incredibly artistic, lots of activity on the stage throughout the entire performance, and has, of course, great music. The reason I think Cirque du Soleil has been so popular is that their performances are just as artistic as they are acrobatic. If you go by that standard, this was the most impressive performance I’ve seen from Cirque. But, like Michael, the next show I want to see is the high flying stunts in O.

Food

What can Las Vegas be like without taking advantage of the food? We hit up the Wynn’s Buffet for 4 hours, stuffing ourselves full of prime rib, sushi, dumplings, eggs, bacon, and eventually crab legs and desserts. While I enjoyed the over-indulgence, the brunch we had on Sunday at Mesa Grill was top notch. My burger was a perfect medium-rare with a good spicy kick from the horseradish mustard:

Gambling

Can’t say I did well at all gambling. I did come prepared to lose money and had enough self control to stop when I had reached my limit.

Rides

On Sunday evening we walked the length of the Strip to reach the Stratosphere Hotel. I’m kicking myself for not bringing my camera, since the top of the Stratosphere offered some breathtaking views of the Strip. We also went on two of the rides – Insanity and xScream. Insanity spins you around while hanging over the hotel while xScream shoots you down over the edge a few times. Once I got over how high we were, the rides were fun, minus the cold winds at 1AM.

People

Well, what’s not to like about a trip than enjoying it with the people you’re with? There were lots of inappropriate conversations and antics to scandalize even yours truly. You can check out my pictures of the trip to see what else we were up to.

If you really want to go back and see O, let me know. I can get you a half price ticket and a free room.
