Go See Outsourced
Man, I’m really loving Netflix. I watched “Outsourced” tonight. It’s a 78% on Rotten Tomatoes but I think it should be much higher. Maybe it’s because I’m a bit nostalgic about India, but seeing the main character get a sensory overload on his first day of India reminded me of my own arrival in Hyderabad’s airport, at around 3AM, and seeing literally hundreds of people crammed outside the arrival terminal. The well-used arch of a foreigner coming to another country, trying to impose his views, and then learning that he must understand the culture and himself is superb. And, the numerous funny and endearing moments also make it worth it.
I’m starting to get an itch to travel again. As the New York Times notes in this article, economic woes in the United States have spread to Europe, making it much more amenable for American tourism. I haven’t been to Europe for over five years now – and so far it has only been Paris/London/Budapest/Vienna/Salzburg. I hear other places are nice. Maybe that’ll be a resolution for 2009.
