Agra, Delhi, Jaipur (Days 5-9)

I’ve finally finished captioning my photos from last weekend’s trip. Taking advantage of India’s national holiday for Diwali, I headed to Delhi with a fellow co-worker to tour the so-called “Golden Triangle” – Delhi, Agra, Jaipur. Getting to Delhi itself took longer than expected (the plane circled for 45 minutes as we waited for runway space to land), but we were treated to very nice digs at the Gargaon guest house, where our own chef cooked some fabulous breakfasts and dinners.

I had a chance to get to a fair number of places – the Taj Mahal in Agra, Lodi Gardens, the Red Fort, Gandhi Smriti in Delhi, and Amber Fort, City Palace, and Jantar Mantar in Jaipur. You can find all the pictures here:

Agra
Delhi
Jaipur

Of the three cities, I’d say Jaipur was my favorite. Our driver was telling us that you could go around all of Rajasthan by car in two weeks for ~$1000 USD, including breakfasts and hotel accomodations for a group of 4. It sounds like a great deal – if anyone is interested in doing this in the future, let me know :)

Excellent job with the commenting…I guess that is an advantage of being a history major versus a stat major…but that is the only advantage I can see =P

It always freaks me out to find other blogs by other Reid’s, especially when I find them via adwords while searching for myself. (Full disclosure: I admire the technique. Nicely done.)

Enjoy India. I’m off to youtube land.
