Quick trip to St. Louis
As I mentioned earlier, I spent this past weekend with J in St. Louis. Since it was her first time to the great city and we had only three days, I made sure we hit up the highlights. Coming home is always a pleasure – I get to eat my favorite foods, see the St. Louis Cardinals, and relax at home. I took plenty of pictures for your viewing pleasure.
Here’s our famous ‘toasted ravioli‘:

Which provided a nice view of the St. Louis skyline. That’s Busch Stadium to the left and the Old Courthouse in the bottom right, made famous by the Dred Scott case:

I grew up watching the St. Louis Cardinals and this was my first time seeing their new stadium, built in 2006. It’s gorgeous (and that night, the Cardinal’s beat the Reds, 7-6):

Ted Drewes is a popular after-baseball destination. The frozen custard stand is located on historic route 66:

We went on a Tour of the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. There was no talk of InBev here, but I could sense that the tour guides were hiding something from us. Oh well – free beer!

If you’re ever in St. Louis and want to indulge the horticulturist in you, be sure to visit the Missouri Botanical Garden. It’s one of the largest botanical gardens in the country and features gorgeous plants and flowers amidst installation artwork. The giant lillies in this pond are surrounding by glass ‘onions’ created by Dale Chihuly:

The Butterfly House is another unique destination in St. Louis. The climate controlled house features wide-variety of gorgeous butterflies from around the world. They’re friendly, too!

A final must-visit for me every time I come home to St. Louis is the Posh Nosh, a local deli serving up delicious sandwiches since the early 1900s:

So that’s that. You can find the rest of the pictures, here. Three days in St. Louis covers plenty of highlights and I had a good time relaxing and even breaking out my old cello for a few songs. I ate a lot too, so it’s time for a diet.
