Why I Ride

This Sunday I’ll be riding 75K in the Tour de Cure, to benefit the American Diabetes Association.  For the past few months, I’ve been doing some training rides to prepare myself for the length of this ride, so, it’s been a great excuse for me to go out and get in shape.  And, as an added bonus, it’s all going towards a good cause that others can rally behind very easily.  Some of the facts about diabetes are quite alarming, meaning it’s more important than ever to find a cure.  Consider that:

  • One out of every three Americans born in the year 2000 will develop diabetes.
  • It is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States
  • The incidence of diabetes has risen by 61% since 1990 and continues to rise.

    Great cause!

Have you ever hit any of the mountain bike trails up here in northern California. I live in Redding and right here in our own backyard at Whiskeytown National Rec. Area is some of the best single tracks around!
