Tour de Cure – Palo Alto 75km Route

After several months of training, it was finally time for my 75km ride in the Palo Alto Tour de Cure.  Before getting to the actual ride itself, I want to first thank all of you who helped support me in the ride, which in the end, is helping go towards a great cause.  Having supporters was a huge motivating factor for me – certainly to get out and train, as well as during the actual ride, where I definitely felt that there were friends who had my back, even though they weren’t there.

Overall, the ride wasn’t bad at all.  In fact, riding with two other Googlers for the majority of the route, I could say that we definitely pushed ourselves.  My ride, according to my GPS on MotionBased, has me at a 15.3mph/average, which is much faster than I’m used to.  This is primarily because Canada Road is relatively flat, and I had plenty of momentum for various, small climbs.  I suppose that the 75km was also a bit high, since I was at 43.06 miles by the end, which translates into roughly 70 kilometers.  Oh well, no complaints here :)

So, what’s next?  This was my first cycling ride and I really enjoyed it.  Having a goal in mind when cycling was also great for training and getting in better shape.  I have my sights set on the AIDS/LifeCycle ride next year, so stay tuned!
