Memorial Day Weekend
Excellent three-day weekend. Relaxed, caught up on sleep, went to a fun BBQ today. Did a bit of cleaning, as well.
I did a few marathon sessions of GTA IV, finally finishing it on Monday night. It was a damn good game, with an excellent storyline, character development, and graphics. The dialogue is hilarious, as is the quality music they have on the various radio stations. In certain portions of the game, you can go out with a friend to a bar, winding up hammered as you stumble around and fall on your ass. At this point, you can either choose to drive home drunk or take a taxi. MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) has been very critical of GTA, saying that is encourages drunk driving, which kills ~6,750 each year. I actually disagree with MADD’s analysis – this game makes me in no way want to drive drunk. Being completely trashed in the game makes gameplay near impossible, and when I tried driving, I ended up crashing my car and getting arrested. Better to make that decision on a videogame than real life. Either way, this game rocks – buy it!
Also headed-up to Point Reyes this weekend, hiking the Earthquake Trail, Lagoon Trail, and Tomales Point (Elk Preserve) Trail. The weather cooperated as much as it could – it was cloudy, but bearable, and we succeeded in seeing some grazing elk, literally 20 feet from where we stood. Cool! Also grabbed lunch at Saigon Sandwiches in SF, and dinner at Tacubaya and dessert at Naia Gelato in Berkeley.
Thanks to Koklynn and Nelson for taking great photos. My favorite of course, is this one that Nelson took:
It’s a great follow-up to our picture in the Google Webmaster Central blog:

that is a sweet hike. post more pictures!
Sadness. I totally missed out.
