All that’s missing was a win…
Went to see the Giants play the Padres on Friday. The game had it all and a perfect chance for our visiting work ambassadors (from India, China, and Dublin), to experience our American past-time. Here’s the significance of Friday’s game:
- Omar Viszquel was honored for having played the most games at shortstop in major league history
- The Giants turned an extremely rare triple-play, the first for their team since 1999
- We saw some Padres and Giants fans start fighting and getting thrown out by the police
- The game lasted 13 innings
- There were fireworks at the end over the Bay
- Seagulls began flying around the stadium at the 9th inning, obviously anticipating the end of the game, and began hovering in the extra-innings, upset that the game wasn’t over
- Greg Maddox is still pitching (he’s 42)
- Brian Horowitz had his first major league at bat, striking out on three pitches
Nonetheless, the Giants lost 7-3 in 13 innings. Poor team. Except not really – Go Cards!!!
