Training Ride #3 for Tour de Cure

Headed out with 6 Googlers for a ride around the Bayland Meadows Preserve which are located along the Bay between East Palo Alto and Mountain View. It wasn’t as intense or fast-paced as last week’s ride, but definitely enjoyable to try out a new trail. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t ride it again, since the trail is pretty rocky and I was constantly worried about hitting a sharp rock and getting a flat. Anyway, here’s what the ride looked like. Here’s the MotionBased link.

Tour de Cure training ride

As you can see, it was pretty flat and only 10.41 miles. Still, nice to get out during lunch, meet some other people, and go for a group ride around the area. Oh yes, my disclaimer: these rides are part of my training for the June 8th Tour de Cure ride. If you’re so inclined, please donate to support me on my Tour de Cure page!

Hey Reid, it’s Paige. Been a long time since we’ve talked, but I like keeping up with you via your website. In the past year I’ve turned myself into a distance runner (i.e. running marathons and half marathons) and have made it a goal to complete an Ironman Triathlon before I’m 30. That said, I need to buy a bike and was wondering if you could give me an idea of a good, reliable fairly inexpensive brand/type of road bike, or an idea of what to look for, etc. You can e-mail me or facebook message me or something. Thanks a lot! Hope post-college life is treating you as well as it seems to be :)

Hey Paige – glad to hear that! I’m actually thinking about writing a blog post about bike shopping and what to look for…so stay tuned!
