Training Ride #1 for Tour de Cure
If I haven’t mentioned this already, I’ve joined the Google team for the June 8th, Tour de Cure. This is a fund-raiser bike ride to benefit the American Diabetes Association’s mission to prevent and cure diabetes as well as improve the lives of those people affected by diabetes. The ride itself is of varying lengths – 25km, 50km, 75km, and 120km. I’ve opted for the 75km ride, since I’m still relatively new to cycling. Some co-workers who are leading the Google team have begun organizing weekly Wednesday lunch rides to start training for the longer routes. So today, I skipped lunch and headed out with three others for a ride around Los Altos Hills:
Give or take, the ride lasted around 1.25 hours and I reached 18miles by the time I came back to the office. And as a very good sign, the ride wasn’t very tiring at all. Anyway, I’ll continue to blog about my upcoming rides as I prepare for the Tour de Cure. And if you’re so inclined, please donate to support me on my Tour de Cure page! If you donate, you can see your name scroll across the screen = super cool!
