American Idol Season 7 - Inspirational songs that let me down

All of the contestants sang songs that have inspired them, but to be honest, almost all of the performances were lackluster.  Even David Cook, who normally blows everyone away, was off his game.  Jason Castro gave the most memorable performance of the night, strumming the ukelele to perform Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”  And again, it was the women who disappointed.  So here’s my bottom three:

- Carly Smithson - her “inspirational” performance of “The Show Must Go On” was actually quite angry and annoying.

- Brooke White - “You’ve got a Friend” was okay, but she has failed to stand out or do anything stellar in my opinion.  She’ll need to up the ante since there are less contestants each week to cover up her weaknesses.

- Michael Johns - “Dream On” by Aerosmith was pretty corny, and he couldn’t hit the ‘high’ note at the end.  Plus, going first is never good if you don’t blow the judges away (which he didn’t).
