I drive a hybrid. I am old, emotionally sensitive, and highly creative.

My friend Nelson was nice enough to share with me an interesting article through Google Reader this week. He follows the AmazonGreen Scene’s blog. The blog profiled an article by the Environmental Leader that analyzed the ‘mindset’ of Hybrid owners. Since the results from the article were surprising to read, here are a few quotes from the article:

Hybrid owners…

  • …tend to have much higher levels of education and report much higher household income; they are also about four years older than the average new vehicle buyer (54 vs. 50)
  • …are 78% more likely than the general population to be highly creative
  • …are inventive and imaginative and also tend to be emotionally sensitive and intellectually curious.
  • …tend to be more open-minded, more spontaneous, and more assured of their ability to lead other

I wonder what profiles have been performed on other car owners? Do people who drive Hummers feel like they need attention? Do people who drive VW Bugs secretly want to be hippies? It’s funny to think I fit the ‘hybrid’ profile, simply because I own one. Am I really emotionally sensitive? Am I really imaginative? Well, science says I am! So next time you see someone in this car, get out of the way, they’re up to something creative, inventive, and spontaneous!

I drive a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am that is currently covered in smears of tree sap.

I can tell you what my mindset is: I wish I had a better car.

    wow.

The subtitle under “Reid’s Personal Blog” should be “Old, emotionally sensitive, and highly creative”

Mike – I noticed that this morning. Maybe it means Pontiac Grand Am drivers are dirty people,

Wilmot – I dunno if I’m going to change my subtitle that soon.
