Claiming ownership of my blog on Technorati

So I found out my blog was crawled and listed on Technorati (via Google Webmaster Tools) so I figured, why not go over to Technorati and at least claim ownership of my blog? Unfortunately, claiming ownership forces you to pick between security and stupidity.

  • Method 1: Security – to make a ‘quick’ claim on your blog, you can give Technorati your log-in name and password for your WordPress blog, which will allow them to verify your blog on their end. And although they say they don’t store your password, something about that makes me wary.
  • Method 2: Stupidity – write a new blog post with a verification code embedded for Technorati to crawl. It’s supposed to be a link to to my Technorati profile, which looks like this: Technorati Profile

Since I picked the latter method, I get to look dumb with a post devoted to a Technorati link. But kudos to you, my audience of 10, for now learning how you can list your blog on Technorati!

maybe you can now safely delete this post

  2. Technorati has some pretty cool features, but I know some folks have had issues with it in the past. For example, if you write too many “interesting link of the day” posts they’ll think your blog is spam.
