June 25th, 2006 | by Reid |I’m updating from my new home for the next full year - Lantana 310. Moving here was the biggest pain in the world, carrying boxes of crap for a good 5 hours and cleaning my old room in Kimball with Harry for another hour. But, I’m moved in, with the addition of Jenny’s sofa, chair, fridge, and 5 boxes. But, it’s all hidden under the bed so I have ample room to fit everything else. Perhaps the best deal of the summer was the air conditioning. It’s already been 100 degrees, but not in my room!
RA training was a really good experience. I definitely feel like it will force me to become more responsible through putting myself out there in certain sitatuations that require me to or plunging me into unsuspected circumstances. It’s hard to say that I’ll be approached by a resident who has been sexually assaulted or that I’ll experience a fire in the dorm, but training has hopefully prepared me to respond calmly to all sorts of situations. And with that preparation, I can focus on having fun as an RA, going out for staff dinners (we went to Paxti’s, Amber India, and Nola this week), and meeting some new people. Being an RA definitely puts you in a position to do so.
It’s hard for me to predict what this summer will be like, since I haven’t really sat down to think about my goals for it. That’s my goal for tomorrow…think of goals for the summer. Work (or my own research) hasn’t started yet (theoretically it could have started whenever I wanted to), so until that happens, I’m sort of just in a limbo stage between classes ending and starting summer work. Plus, it’s hard to say how long RA stuff will take up.
So that’s all for now. I wish I could write more (I could write a whole lot more), but I’m tired and will choose sleep over Xanga.

moving is a pain, but now you don’t have to do it anymore until you graduate (which is kind of scary)
training is always fun, esp when you’ve gotten to meet some cool ppl (which i am sure u have been)
