A few updates on my life:
Having a car is sort of like a new found freedom. Now I can really leave campus if I need to – so of course, Jenny and I have gone to get food, twice. First to a Shanghai style restaurant in Cupertino Village and then to KFC, of all places. I also got my first tank of gas since the car arrived – gas is really damn expensive, so it’s making me more conscious about not wanting to drive unless necessary.
It definitely feels like the year is winding down and while I don’t want to reflect on everything since the year isn’t technically over, I would say that I feel relieved to be done with four of my five classes. This quarter has definitely been one of the hardest, balancing 20 units, two jobs, organizing a training, RA apps/interviews, and a social life. But, it’s been one of the most rewarding too – I’ve really gotten to hang out with some cool people (THIS MEANS YOU KARA!) and get excited about where I’m heading in the future – SRC RA, Lantana RA, continuing future research for MLK and the Asian American Art Project. At the same time, there has been frustrations – more work than expected, people asking more of me than I wanted or planned for, or even the stupid hangover that sets me back a day of work. But more and more, I’m finding that I’m having to take on increased responsibilities and make more mature decisions – I guess that’s what happens when you get older and have only a year left before graduation. I still can’t comprehend that I’ll have only one year left, so I also have the mindset of enjoying every minute of my day. So with that it’s time for less blogging and more fun!
haha nice, Reid. Having a car is cool, but you’ll find out it’s gonna be expensive especially with gas and then all those time you purposely decide to skip dinner just to go eat off-campus.
