Last weekend I went to Yosemite.  It was my first time in over 15 years or something, so I consider it a “first” since I don’t remember my memories when I was younger.  I rode along with Wilmot, Jenny, Amy, and Wilmot’s friends Ellen (from Berkeley) and Winnie Yeh (no relation, from Hawaii).

I’d say we did fairly structured, safe camping, which was good considering our large group and the ease of it.  I really didn’t want to rough it the entire weekend, so having a cot to sleep on and bathrooms close by made things somewhat closer to home.  We had plenty of good food - hot dogs and s’mores over the campfire was quite good!  What was more surprising, was going to sleep at 10pm and then waking up at 6:30AM to get ready to Hike Half-Dome.

Hiking Half-Dome was plenty of fun - we had beautiful views of Yosemite and I guess you could say it makes you get in touch with nature and everything.  We hiked all the way up to the base of Quarter-Dome before turning back because we didn’t want it to get dark as we hiked down.  It was really strange to be on the mountain with shorts and a t-shirt and in a few feet of snow.  The hills we were climbing up were pretty steep, so to get down the mountain we slid!  That was quite a funny sight.  I guess the more pathetic thing was that I got dehydrated and I was the one who drank the most of everyone - 2 liters of water!  I had a pretty bad headache by the time I got down, but some good steak and s’mores cheered me up.  I definitely want to go back to actually go to the top of that damn Half-Dome.  The roundtrip was about 11 hours.  Sooo long, but sooo fun!
