Eric, Chris, Mariana, Harry, and I had our first taste of Wilbur brunch this morning. I have to say the quality has gone down slightly, with less grab ‘n go juices and bags of food that we normally could have. I got the same thing I usually get though – an English muffin with egg and sausage inside and some rice and egg rolls. The watermelon and strawberries were nice too, since I had hardly any fruit in Tokyo.
In the afternoon we went to IKEA to return and buy some stuff for our room. I waited for about 45 minutes in the return line. What a horrible store. The only thing that kept me amused was watching them put on this Disney Kids Station where they had a kids contest. The kids had to jump up and down until the music stopped. If they were still moving, they’d be out. It was even better to see a few parents do this on a mattress. And it was the best when my return went through.
I got a new bike today! It’s a Giant ST, SX, or something. But, it’s red! It had pedals that turn and a wheel that steers properly. It’s new! So it won’t break and almost kill me.
In the afternoon we set up our room – most notable was hanging posters on the ceiling and putting a tatami mat on our doorframe. We also have a ladder from housing that we didn’t use for our lofted beds to prominently display our wine and other hard alcohol.
Today was Manz Madness. It was anything but Manz or Madness. People from all across campus came with friends for the ‘free’ food. And it wasn’t quite mad either. But, after eating a burger, some beans (YUM!) and salad, Harry and Chris squared off in an epic battle with some giant sumo costumes. I almost keeled over laughing. This RF’s son who was about 5 was really excited about the sumo and kept on jumping ONTOP of Harry and Chris when they fell and egging them on. We also peopled a bouncehouse along with Mengfei and Steve – and brought the whole thing down when we all jumped to one side. But, it popped back into place (luckily).
I watched Anchorman this evening while cleaning the room. And later, we had some wine and cheese. I only had two glasses and it really relaxed me, especially since I’m so nervous about school starting tomorrow! LOL JK!!
yay new bike! didn’t bring a pen with you to buy it, i daresay?
minus the long lines, IKEA is wonderful
i agree, Ikeey-YA is a big con. folks in the Nordic countries look at Ikea like we look at K Mart. cheap, crappy furniture site where customers are made to walk around in endless circles thinkin’ they see EXIT signs which lead them to more circle walking past “teaser items” until u get to the long ass line, but wait! the alkaline batteries are inexpensive (they suck), and u realize u coulda should been doin’ somethin better wit u re time……
Reid- How are you doing??
