July 25, 2005
I met Carolyn for lunch today at the Faculty Club. It was the first time I really got a chance to talk to her – about her life before, during, and after Stanford. I was surprised when she told me she had three nieces that went to Harvard – she was there for the class of 2004 graduation when I was too. A weird coincidence.
After lunch I spent some time retaking photos of old newspaper articles at the East Asian library. I edited them at the A3C, took a nap, and talked with some SAAAC folks. After dinner at Manz, I went jogging with Raylene, watched Elektra (HORRIBLE), a few episodes of SATC, and chatted a bit when Alex, Anna, and Chris stopped by.
This summer has been quite interesting. If I could measure it in movies, lunches with Chris or Harry, miles run, or pages of books/microfilm read, it would be high. I guess that would correspond with a high level of satisfaction. But, when I think about what expectations I had before SRC – reading more outside of my research, going to the gym, doing other work, or how things have panned out the way they have, there have been some let-downs. The good has outweighed the bad though. I suppose I can still strive to do more things I wanted to do this summer. Perhaps this is just a sign that I shouldn’t have any expectations :-P.
lol
“how do you measure a year?” 525600 minutes…well not that many for summer…but i’m not sure you even know that song
you and your expectations or lack thereof
and omg you didn’t mention how the food was at the faculty club!!
OF COURSE ELEKTRA WAS GOING TO BE BAD
but i probably know why you watched it anyway, hah
