Admit Weekend begins! Honestly, I’m not too excited – maybe I’m bitter, maybe because I’m cynical, but perhaps because I’m not in a dorm that’s hosting ProFro’s so I really can’t get excited.
So the day began with a polisci section, going back to shower and then to CS section. I went to the activities fair and tabled for SAAAC – it wasn’t too successful because a lot of ProFro’s were still arriving and they looked overwhelemed (cute though). I managed to grab lunch at “the truck” so I ate a whole bunch o’ meat. I then went to Physics lecture for the first time in who knows when. There were so many ProFro’s there – more than who normally takes the class! I hope they weren’t as bored as I was – the Professor knew they were probably going to come so he had someone from Gravity Probe B come in and tell them how cool Stanford is because NASA is running the probe about 300 yards away from where we were sitting and that’s cool and plus they’ve made the world’s roundest bearings that are used on the probe so Stanford is the shit and you should all come here. I guess it is really compelling if you are a physisict, but for someone who wets his pants when someone like Howard Zinn or Barton Bernstein decides to talk with you…well I guess it’s a difference of desires and expectations.
In the afternoon I hung out until eating dinner with some Cedro people plus Jane, our 2nd floor RA! It was nice to catch up with her and folks – she loved Oxford when she studied there for six months and plans to do a year of graduate work there – I might see her there next Spring if I study abroad there! HOT.
In the evening I worked on my Kimball priority application. I decided to improvise off of a standard 12 bar jazz line. I wrote out the music and the improv so hopefully that’ll be creative enough to get in. That took longer than I thought, but I managed to get to the gym, do the crossword, and start some reading.
