July 24, 2004
I slept in, ate lunch, and then headed over to Eric’s house where Jey, Eric, Andrea, and I met to head over to a church to play for a wedding. Miss Loussaert, a high school AP Stats teacher Eric and I had senior year, was getting married and she had hired us to play since she knew about Strolling and everything. It was cool to play for someone we knew, but it also meant more pressure, since we didn’t want to mess up for someone we knew. The wedding itself went well – we played well and I think we sounded pretty good; much better than last night, simply because we could hear each other. Luckily, there were two church musicians who performed Ave Maria, so I was off to hook for playing that piece. I did, however, forget to go to part B on Trumpet Voluntary, so that was almost a disaster. At one point when the priest was talking about marriage, he mentioned something to the effect that the institution of marriage has recently come under attack and its being degraded – a pretty blatant reference to gay marriages. We all looked at each other with ‘eh’ looks. I mean, that person is totally able to have that opinion, but it still upsets me that people can be so intolerant. I really hope that eventually the country as a whole will be able to tolerate gay marriage. Ugh, some things about the United States are just so upsetting right now.
I hung around home for the rest of the evening. I watched the Cardinal’s game and ate steak for dinner with my parents for the first time in a week. They told me about Montreal and I told them about staying at home. I told them my story about breaking into the house, which they found quite amusing. We also watched an old family video. It was really funny to see myself when I was just 1 year old. I was able to walk and I enjoyed sliding down the stairs backwards and spinning around in circles and falling down from dizzyness. Ahh, I was so cute. What happened?
Andrea came over and we made blueberry muffins. It’s always really nice to cook with her. We get along really well when cooking, which is good, for multiple reasons. :-) We played Scrabble – she won with a big bingo bonus of Forewent. Eric then came over and we chilled (we didn’t chillax since Eric doesn’t like that word!). We watched some of Le Tour De France and Iron Chef. Eric fell asleep, which was funny because he said he wanted to stay really late since it was a Saturday night. They both ended up staying until around 2AM.
Sad realization – I made more money this weekend than 1.5 weeks of work at Express.
ditto
you’re still cute
agreed lol
yeah :-/ ugh
im totally with u on the money thing, its definetly bothersome.
And Andrea is right, u ARE still cute!
‘chillax’? sounds like ‘chilling with exlax’ ;P
Even though I’m for gay marriage, I still feel like he has the right to be against it, especially since he IS a priest. The bible says that it’s a sin, so from his perspective, he feels like it’s being degraded I guess. Whatever, soon everyone will have to tolerate gay marriage just like they had to eventually tolerate having women vote and black people being in the same school as white people.
