March 31, 2004

I can’t believe it’s the end of March.  Then it’s April, May, and June, and I’m done with Spring quarter, and done with my Freshman year of college.  I still can’t grasp that.

Today wasn’t anything exciting, in fact, it seemed like a repeat of last quarter.  I had Spanish 2A, followed by IHUM lecture where I took notes about Marx’s Communist Manifesto, and then after lunch was IHUM section.  I inadvertently went to where my class met last quarter, but when I was going up the stairs, two other kids were coming down, because nobody was in there.  We looked up the course on Axess, and went to our correct room.  Only 6 people were in the section this time, meaning a ton of people switched out or didn’t show up.  But, having 6 people for section would be pretty cool.  The whole small class size thing would be interesting.

I hung out around the dorm for the rest of the afternoon and evening.  There was a HoHo meeting tonight, nothing special or interesting to mention there.  Then, there was House Meeting – I decided to be a Bubble-buster for Cedro, then all of a sudden Gabe, Immanuel, Jon, and Mickey came up too.  That surprised me, especially because I’m not sure how much they keep up with politics and current events.  We shall see.  I’m not sure how much initiative they’ll take up with the job either, so I’ll try and see if I can sort of coordinate our efforts or something like that.

After writing a PWR informal paper about my great-grandparents experience the day Pearl Harbor was bombed (a pretty vague essay since I really don’t know exactly what happened, although I want to find out eventually), I watched various talk shows with Anna, Peter, and Harry downstairs in the lounge.  The cutest little four year old girl came on Letterman because she knew every single country in the world in addition to their capitals.  She correctly identified where China was (something Harry could not do).  Also, the Blue Man group performed on another talk show.  Good stuff.

It’s nice to relax and stay up late and not really do much work.  I know this weekend is going to be tough, but whatever.  I’m not going to stress out.  I think I more or less get disappointed with myself because I slack off and pay for it.  I’m probably working harder than ever this quarter because I’m taking four classes and I’m actually studying, even though the weather is great and everyone wants to go outside.  But, I really feel like I owe it to myself to try and see how I manage a full schedule, especially since my first quarter sucked, and my second quarter was really good, but I wanted to do more.
