March 27, 2004

Wow, what a day of ups and downs. I have lots of reasons to be happy right now, but I’m overwhelmed by the fact that I’m leaving St. Louis and will not see Andrea for 10 weeks. It’s going to be tough, but we’ve gone this long before without seeing each other, plus we’re used to college and we have stuff to do. It should be alright, but damn it’s sad to leave.

Good stuff today: waking up at 9AM and doing my laundry. I then bought 2 tickets to see Dave Matthews Band on June 17. It’s going to be a great show, plus I got Andrea to say yes to coming! Moreover, the tickets I got this year are in row HH (still far back), but 18 rows ahead of row XX where I was two years ago. It’s going to be great!

I went to WalMart this morning with my parents. Not much to say about that. Then, after lounging about my house I went to West County Mall with my Mom, where I got a Cardinal’s baseball hat and she got some Godiva chocolates to give to my parents’ hosts in Japan. After returning home, I went back to West County Mall and applied to all the stores I could find: Waldenbooks, Build-A-Bear, American Eagle, The Discovery Store, Sunglasses Hut, Sam Goody, and the Hallmark store. So far I have applied to 13 stores. Dammit, I better get a summer job!

This evening I hung out with Wash U. folks. After Nikhil delayed us, we had to run to Cheescake factory where we were eating to celebrate Lauren’s 19th birthday. Umar had called Andrea a few minutes after we left, saying that the table was ready and that if the complete party wasn’t there in three minutes the table would be given away. Luckily, after sprinting from the car to the restaurant, we made it. I got the Thai Lettuce Wraps, which were really good, but messy. Umar left a $30 tip for our waiter (there was an earlier conversation about how Nikhil made a generalization about how certain people are cheap), so our total tip was $38. Haha. We walked around the Galleria for a bit and I saw Rebecca Kreipke and some other Ladue seniors. I felt old. Kinda.

After hanging around Beaumont for a little longer, Andrea and I went to her house to get their van and we picked up the rest of the Ginsburg clan at the airport. We returned home and chatted – we talked about a lot of stuff. I’m so glad I have someone like her – for so many reasons.

Gas then home. Then pack. Then a little sleep. Then back to Stanford.
