I woke up around 12 and went to a panel about Choosing a Major/Your Future Career with my Mom. It was interesting and funny to hear about three different people and their experiences at Stanford. One guy was an English major but ended up as an architect, another girl named Rainbow was a Human Biology major but now is a human resources person at the Graduate School of Business, and another guy who was HumBio and then Co-termed in Spanish literature, but now ended up as a lawyer for some dot-com companies. I guess the main thing I got out of it is that you should find something you’re really interested in, as well as take classes you want to take and that will inevitably lead you to a major. I think I did that this quarter, which has been very fulfilling for me. I hope next quarter is the same way.
After hanging around the dorm for awhile, I went to MemAud with my Mom, where a bunch of groups were performing. The Mendicants sang, as well as a Hindu dance squad and the Taiko group. It was really cool. After that we headed over to Pat/Le’s house, where we watched the basketball game and then went out to eat at Todai’s with my Auntie Hisako. That was fun, and I ate a lot of food because it was buffet. I realized that the buffet was located in Cupertino, so a lot of my local friends knew where I went, which I thought was cool.
After saying goodbye to my Mom, I watched “Shaolin Soccer.” Basically, it’s about some guys who want to combine Shaolin Kung Fu and soccer, so they have all sorts of Matrix type effects where they defy physics and move in crazy directions to kick the soccer ball. It was hilarious!
I talked with Andrea online for a little bit, and chilled in my room. It’s 2AM, so I might read for a bit, and then head to bed.
