February 27, 2004

Woke up for Spanish.  Found out that we have a bunch of small but annoying projects due in that class in the next few weeks.  It’s just a lot of busy work, but if busy work can get me an A, that’ll be great!  Then, I had Asian-American history.  We had “section” again, which basically meant talking and not really doing much.  We kind of discussed “community” and what that meant in the context of Asian-Americans today.  We somehow got to the subject of online communities, and our Professor mentioned she keeps a Live Journal and has about 160 friends on Friendster.  I was like, whoa.  She said she’ll add anybody she’s had as a student after she’s done teaching us.

After that I went to the Bookstore, picked up a VHS tape and headed to Meyer where I copied my Spanish video onto a VHS.  I watched it – wow’s it’s really low budget, and the video quality is really crappy.  But whatever, it’s over.

Headed back to the dorm and hung out.  My Mom came over and we ate lunch at Wilbur.  Then, she was tired and decided to take a nap on my futon.  I fell asleep too, but got around to working out at Tressidder.  There was then a Parents’ reception in the lounge.  That was cool, and there was a funny video of move-in day.

My Mom and I went to Cheesecake Factory.  The wait wasn’t bad at all, and I got some chicken tenders.  It was a lot, so now I have some yummy leftovers!  Then, we headed to the Eliot Center and watched a performance of Othello.  It was one of those black box theater type settings, where we were close to the actors from all angles.  It was a very adapted and edited version of Othello.  Othello was a female, Desdemona and Bianaca were both males who wore corsetts.  I guess that kind of highlighted the theory that Iago was gay in the Othello.  It was a very well done play, even though it was very post-modern.  At one point Bianca started singing My Funny Valentine and another time there was some salsa-type dancing.  Overall, very good, and I’m glad to have gone to the performance.  However, when we were clapping during curtain-call for the performers, some other actors ran on stage in military uniforms with guns and scared off the other actors.  Then, they went into a dialogue even more removed from Othello.  But, apparently it was Othello, and these people were going to do yet another performance of Othello.  My Mom and I, and the other people in our row were kind of like, what the hell is going on/let’s get out of here, so after about 15 minutes of that, when the stage went dark, we got the hell out of there.

My Mom then took me back to the dorm and I hung out with Harry and Curtis.  We watched the first three episodes of The Family Guy.  It was hilarious!  Now it’s time for bed.
