February 1, 2004
A new month. Time to reflect on January I guess. January was a pretty good month for me – I’m doing a lot better at Stanford at the moment, keeping up with my assignments, getting enough sleep, caring about my classes, and so far doing well in all of them. I’m talking in IHUM section, taking notes and not fallling asleep in lecture, and actually learning how to speak Spanish. Socially, things are well. I miss Andrea (as always) and am really glad to be with some great people in Cedro. A few days ago, Andrea mentioned that we’ve been together for over 15 months. That’s both suprising and not suprising. Suprising to hear that number, but not surprising because everything so far has been so awesome.
February hit me with a phone call early in the morning. It was Andrea, of course, walking to her violin lesson. Somehow my groggy self managed to hold a decent conversation. By midday I was up for real. I finished reading the Cossacks and brainstormed for my upcoming IHUM paper. At 4PM I had a meeting with my IHUM TF. It was a really good meeting, she really helped me with my thesis and I think I’ll have something decent to write about. I watched parts of the Superbowl also, not really caring because the Rams weren’t in it. Apparently Janet Jackson’s boob was exposed during the halftime show. I’m sad I missed that. Haha. Anyway, moving on.
I went up to the Bender Room and worked more on my paper. I reread the Cossacks again, and wrote down lots of examples of dreams and visions. That really got my mind going about a possible thesis, which was good. Then, I headed back to the dorm and worked on a Spanish essay. I didn’t realize that I had a lot of work to do – I started around 9 and finished about 10 minutes ago. I must admit that I was productive, but now I need to sleep. A long day is ahead, but I think I’m looking forward to it.
